Exactly two years ago today my husband got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. We were in Paris together for the first time and I had hired a photographer while we were there. Not because I expected a proposal, I just really wanted some cute photos in Paris! Well, Matt planned accordingly and somehow hid a ring from me our whole trip!
It’s actually kind of funny how it happened. Before the photoshoot, we had found a photo on Pinterest of a couple in Paris. The man was down on one knee tying his shoe and the girl had a look of excitement on her face. She thought he was proposing!
Well, Matt and I thought it was hilarious and decided we wanted to do a photo like that. But, I completely forgot about it during the shoot. We had been at Trocadero Square since sunrise taking photos and our photographer finally told us she was done. I gladly thanked her and started to walk away when Matt started freaking out saying “No, remember we were going to take that funny picture? Let’s do that!”
So we explained it to the photographer (who was a Russian lady that spoke slightly broken English, by the way) and she thought it was rude of him to do that to me, haha! I had to convince her I was okay with it, and we set up for one last photo! Matt got down and acted like he was tying his shoe and I did my best “surprised” face. But then.. he actually pulled out a ring.
Matt asked me to be his wife and I immediately started to bawl my eyes out. I honestly don’t know if I even answered him but the answer was definitely a ‘yes’. I had no idea at all that he was going to propose, but it couldn’t have been more perfect. My dream Paris proposal. ♥️

Aww happy proposal-versary! What a sweet memory and those photos are amazing! Well done to Matt for being so secretive with the ring and nailing the proposal. My dream proposal isn’t somewhere specific but is definitely while we’re travelling. Travel is such an important part of our relationship so I’d love to get engaged while on a trip. Plus, I love the idea of just being able to celebrate in a special place and then breaking the news to our loved ones back home.
