Where to Eat in Washington DC

Washington DC.. the Nation’s Capital, home to some of the most historic buildings in the United States, and a foodie’s paradise. No matter what you’re in the mood for, you’ll have plenty of options here. If you’re trying to decide where to eat in Washington DC, this is a list of some of the best spots.

Where to Eat in Washington DC

We, the Pizza

We, the Pizza Washington DC Restaurant Lost With Jen

Honestly some of the best pizza I’ve ever had, and a single slice was bigger than my whole face! We sat upstairs and had the whole room to ourselves (though I can’t guarantee you’ll be as lucky). The whole restaurant had a great vibe to it. We would definitely go back the next time we’re in DC!

I love when pizza places have more than just the typical flavors, and this place had all kinds. I highly recommend the buffalo mozzarella with roasted tomatoes! 😉 We, the Pizza is located right down the road from the US Capitol and the Supreme Court so it’s the perfect place to stop for lunch for the day!

Bobby’s Burger Palace

This is the first place we stopped to eat in DC. Honestly, the only reason we went here is because we had been walking around for what felt like (and probably was) hours. We were starving, and it was the first place we saw that had food.

I’m so glad we did stop here because the food was amazing! I usually like burger joints because they have more than just your typical cheeseburger, and this one did not disappoint. There were four of us on this trip and we each tried a different burger, and they were all great! I guess it’s also worth mentioning that they have really good milkshakes and sweet potato fries! I would recommend the brunch burger. 😉

Wicked Waffle

Strawberry cheesecake waffles, waffle french toast, waffles with ice cream on top? Need I say more?! We stopped here for breakfast on a rainy morning while we were in DC. Partly because we were hungry and ‘Wicked Waffle’ sounded like a cool spot, and partly because it had started pouring rain, and we wanted to get indoors, haha.

This place was well worth the stop. I was initially disappointed because they were out of strawberry cheesecake waffles, but I ended up getting ‘The Works’ instead. I can only assume this was even better, cause, I mean.. waffles and ice cream.

“Food Truck Row”

When you’re visiting all of the monuments and museums you will see tons of food trucks lined up out on the sidewalks, especially near the National Mall. This is honestly your best option for a quick lunch, and there definitely is a food truck for everything! If you’re with family and everyone wants something different, just walk down “Food Truck Row”. Everyone can pick their own food truck!

Ted’s Bulletin

Hands down, the best breakfast on our trip. It’s right down the street from the Eastern Market, which was the first stop on our last morning. It was the perfect place to stop for breakfast. They’re pretty popular for their ‘Ted’s Tarts’ which is basically a homemade pop-tart, but I can honestly say every item on the menu sounded absolutely delicious!

I ordered the ‘Big Mark Breakfast’ which came with everything you see in the photo. It also came with the blueberry cheesecake Ted’s Tart. Bonus: this place has cakes, pies, all-day breakfast, cocktails (even mimosas and bloody Mary’s to go with your breakfast!) and boozy milkshakes!

Cafe Laduree

I first fell in love with Cafe Laduree when my husband and I went to Paris. I can honestly say they make some of the best macarons in the world. As soon as I found out there was a Laduree in DC, it shot to the top of my ‘must-do’ list.

The best part is, it’s located right on M Street! This is where you’ll find some of the best shopping and many other restaurants and cafes. I highly recommend the raspberry macarons, they’re definitely the best! 😉

Other Great Spots

There are quite a few places that we wish we would’ve been able to check out. Unfortunately, we ran out of time. We’ll definitely be stopping at these spots whenever we’re back in town! These are some other great places for where to eat in Washington DC.

Astro’s Donuts and Fried Chicken

This is one of the places we were dying to eat at while in DC but ended up going somewhere else because we were running short on time. Head here if you’re in the mood for some classic southern food. Fried chicken, spicy sides, and of course, donuts! It may not be the healthiest option but it definitely sounds like one of the most tasty!

Dangerously Delicious Pies

Dangerously Delicious Pies is actually a very unique place. Yes, they sell delicious pies. But, it’s also a bar where you’ll find live music and shows as well. Dangerously Delicious Pies is a great spot to hit up for happy hour in DC. Don’t forget to try the ‘Pie Shop Lager’ while you’re here!

Nando’s Peri Peri

Another spot on our list that we, unfortunately, just didn’t have time for. Nando’s is known for their South African flame-grilled peri-peri chicken. They specialize in chicken here but there are tons of vegetarian options on the menu as well. Head to Nando’s if you’re in the mood for something spicy!
