Where to Eat in Hanoi, Vietnam

Trying to decide where to eat in Hanoi, Vietnam? We absolutely loved the food here. We didn’t have a single bad meal and all of the food was super affordable! There are tons of great restaurants, cafes, and pubs to choose from but here are some of my favorites!

Turtle Lake Brewing Company

This spot was right next to the lake so if you go during the daytime you’ll have amazing views. Actually, the views were pretty great at night too! You can sit outdoors, inside, at the bar, or even upstairs!

This one is a bit Americanized but they had a little bit of everything. We just happened to be here on wing night and they also had an all you can drink special for fairly cheap! My husband had the wings and I had a quesadilla. We would have loved to try more but we were stuffed after that! Haha

The Note Coffee

My favorite thing about The Note Coffee is how friendly the staff was. We were greeted with a smile and a wave before we even walked in the door! Everyone was so friendly and making jokes, and it was just an overall great atmosphere. And, the drinks here were so good! My husband and I both had a couple of different drinks and they all were delicious. I recommend the pineapple smoothie!

Prague Pub

Prague Pub was where we had our favorite meal of the whole trip. Everything on the menu looked great, so we tried a little bit of everything! Spicy chicken with rice and pineapple, a burger and fries, and of course we had some pho!

We also had a few drinks while we were here (which were also delicious) and the whole meal still cost us less than 20 USD! This would be my number one recommendation for where to eat in Hanoi.

GongCha

GongCha is a great place to come for boba tea (bubble tea) in Hanoi. They have a variety of flavors to choose from and it’s great to enjoy on a hot day! Only one location comes up on Google maps but I believe a saw a few different ones throughout the city!

Bún Cha Huong Liên

Yep, the restaurant where Obama ate with Anthony Bourdain. I, personally, did not eat here (only because we ran out of time!) but I have heard that the food is actually really good. I’ve also heard it’s a bit more expensive than other pho places because of the whole Obama/Bourdain thing. It’s up to you if you think this one is worth a stop or not!

Pasture Street Brewing Co.

We just happened to stumble upon this restaurant walking down a side street. It’s basically right around the corner from St. Joseph’s Cathedral! My husband had a burger and I had the spicy chicken with fried potatoes. It was delicious, especially with the spicy sauce!

This place has a brunch menu as well plus tons of unique beers to try (so of course, we had a few). They also have shuffleboard in the corner where we sat. Our table was right by the window which had gorgeous street views. We would love to come back to this restaurant the next time we’re in Hanoi!

Where to Eat in Hanoi – Tips

  1. Don’t forget to try the street food. Head to the night market or just look for vendors in the streets. It’s the best way to experience local foods!
  2. Try pho. You just can’t come to Vietnam and not have a bowl of pho!
  3. Have a cup of egg coffee. It’s a delicious, creamy specialty in Hanoi. There are tons of great cafes to choose from!

Hey there. O-H! Vietnam was one of my favorite places to solo travel so I love reading articles like this. I agree and think the food is secretly a selling point. I only had a chance to see Ho Chi Min City so I’m excited to

I-O! 😉 I definitely want to visit Ho Chi Minh City as well as a few other places further south next time I’m in Vietnam! 😁
