Buyeo is a small countryside town in South Korea that’s full of great cultural things to do. One of the best and main attractions? The Gudeurae Sculpture Park. It’s a huge family-friendly park located right next to the Baengmagang River that’s full of more than 60 unique art installations and sculptures. Here’s everything you need to know for your trip.

The sculptures at Gudeurae Sculpture Park reflect the country’s unique history as well as some more modern art. The park is popular not just with tourists but with many of the local residents as well. Even in the middle of winter there were families here walking their dogs, playing on the playground, and spending time together.

No matter what type of art you’re interested in, there’s a little something for everyone at this park. And, there are tons of photo opportunities. You could easily spend a couple hours hanging out at this park and checking out all of the different sculptures.

Gudeurae Sculpture Park Gym Equipment

The Gudeurae Sculpture Park in Buyeo has an entire outdoor gym setup complete with weights and a variety of exercise equipment. This part of the park is known as the Gudeurae Exercise Park. This is extremely popular with many of the locals.

The Exercise Park also has baseball and soccer fields for anyone to use. These are very popular in the warmer months and you will almost always find locals out at the park enjoying the day. The Exercise Park is the perfect spot to go on a warm summer day.

Children’s Playground

There is an entire area set up in the park for children with slides and games. The whole park is kid-friendly but this definitely makes it more enjoyable for the children.

Cafes & Restaurants Nearby

There are many restaurants and cafes in the area as well as quite a few street food options! However, there are a few cafes, restaurants, and shops right across the street from the park (including my favorite, Cafe Hapum). A short walk down the street from the park you’ll find the traditional market and Food Street as well. These are some great cafes and restaurants in the area:

  • Kyochon Chicken
  • House of Baekje Restaurant
  • bhc (Beer Chicken Plate)
  • Noritor
  • Gongwon Chicken
  • Cafe Hapum

Tips for Visiting the Park

  1. Visit the Sculpture Park and the town of Buyeo in the spring or fall. It was lovely when we visited in the winter but it would definitely be more enjoyable in the warm, spring weather or when the park is surrounded by beautiful, fall foliage.
  2. Don’t forget to check out the many other attractions in the area. Buyeo is full of great (free!) family-friendly things to do. For more info, check out my post: Things to Do in Buyeo.
  3. After your walk through the park, go across the street for a stroll along the river. There is a walkway along the Geumgang River that you can take all the way down to the Ferry Quay. You can even go for a river boat ride should you choose to do so!
