The Meta Provence is a unique and colorful tourist complex located in Damyang, South Korea and is inspired by a city in France. It’s one of the most popular tourist attractions in Damyang aside from the Juknokwon Bamboo Forest and the Metasequoia path.

The Meta Provence is a photographer’s paradise as it’s full of amazing photo spots. All of the colorful walls combined with the unique walkways, works of art, and fun shops are what makes this place so special. Every corner is so unique and provides a new surprise everywhere you look.

There are tons of great restaurants, cafes, and shops located in the Meta Provence. You’ll have no problem finding coffee or ice cream here as there are tons of options. One of my favorite small restaurants here had great spicy chicken, tornado potatoes (a must-try!), and even donut corn dogs! Yes, it’s sugary and as strange as it sounds. On most days there will also be street food vendors near the entrance.

There is an arcade as well as many other fun rooms worth checking out while you’re here. It’s great for families, kids, and adults alike! There are multiple kid-friendly play areas and they’re bound to love the fun photo spots as well.

One thing that you must try while you’re here is the bamboo ice cream! You can try the regular bamboo flavor or bamboo mixed with vanilla. It’s only appropriate in an area like this surrounded by so much bamboo! It was actually so much better than I expected it to be. Korea does unique ice cream flavors well and I’ve discovered so many favorites since living here. A couple other flavors worth trying (both of which you can find here!) are blueberry and grape.

Tips for Visiting the Meta Provence in Damyang

  • Set aside at least an hour or two to explore this little village. Take lots of photos and check out all of the fun local shops.
  • Try the local foods while you’re here. There are so many foods that are unique to the area that are worth trying!
