Where to Eat in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

This city may be famous for its sports teams and iconic yellow bridges, but what about the food?! There honestly are so many great choices for where to eat in Pittsburgh. This is a list of some of my favorite spots. You’ll be eating like a local in no time! 😉

Where to Eat in Pittsburgh

Primanti Bros.

One of the most popular spots to grab a bite to eat in Pittsburgh, famous for their “Pittsburger” which comes topped with fries and slaw. Don’t forget to grab a Yeungling while you’re here, it’s the most popular beer in (probably) all of Pennsylvania!

Primanti Bros. has multiple locations but we always go to the one right off of the strip, conveniently located near all of the shops and pubs that we love to visit afterward.

The Church Brew Works

One of the most unique spots for a brewery that I’ve ever seen. Church Brew Works was an old abandoned Catholic Church that was restored and turned into a brewery in 1993. Many of the tables have seats made out of the old church pews, and even the bar was built with repurposed wood from some of the old pews. One of the old confessionals is now home to “The Church Brew Works” merchandise because of course there are souvenirs.

The food here is delicious, and there are so many different draft beers to choose from. The drinks here even have hilarious church themed names, like ’Celestial Gold Pilsner’ and ‘Pious Monk Dunkel’. My husband and I both tried a few different types of beer, as well as a cherry mule (definitely recommend). His favorite food was the spinach dip, and mine was the tiramisu.

This one is great if you love unique spots, or if you’ve just always wanted to drink a beer in church (me)!

Burgatory

Custom burgers and boozy milkshakes? Yes, please! This is one of the first places my husband and I ever went for dinner in Pittsburgh, and it quickly became one of our favorites. There are little notepads on each table which you can use to create a completely custom burger, and honestly, any place with boozy milkshakes has my attention.

The Milkshake Factory

What’s so special about a milkshake place, you might ask? The ‘Bananas Foster’, that’s what. It was the perfect combo of banana, caramel, and cinnamon. Yum! This place has so much more than just your basic milkshakes. They have a ton of unique flavors, as well as a variety of chocolates and other sweets! If you’ve got a sweet tooth, this is your spot.

The Beerhive

One word: frypies! I’m pretty certain that the frypie was created specifically for me. I am obsessed with any and all foods involving potatoes of any shape or form. I had the ‘Full On Fries’ and stole some of my husband’s bbq wings. We were skeptical at first that the frypie would be enough to fill me up, but my plate was HUGE.
