The Most Unique Cafes in Seoul, South Korea

South Korea is huge on themed cafes. They are so popular here and you can find one with just about any theme you can imagine. I’ve never been to a city with such an amazing cafe culture as Seoul. I try to visit a new cafe every time I’m in the city! These are some of the most unique cafes that you will find in Seoul, South Korea.

The Most Unique Cafes in Seoul

Cafe Yeonnam-dong 22314

Located in Hongdae, this cafe is designed to look 2D which is super fun. Everything is black and white and as soon as you step inside you feel like you’re walking around inside a coloring book. I tried the strawberry milk and the iced chocolate milk. Even though they’re super basic items to order and not exactly the cheapest, they were delicious. The unique atmosphere of this cafe was more than worth it.

The Cat Cafe

Don’t forget to check out my other post: The Cat Cafe in Myeongdong, Seoul.

Chances are, if you’re walking the streets in Myeongdong, you’ll see someone dressed in a cat costume handing out flyers and trying to get you to come to the Cat Cafe. Well, me being the cat lady that I am, I was instantly sold. What could be better than having a cup of coffee while snuggling with all the cute kittens?! Nothing. That’s what.

Ddong Cafe

Don’t forget to check out my other post: Ddong Cafe: The Most Unique Cafe in Seoul.

The Ddong Cafe is also known as the poop cafe. Yep, that’s right. Poop. Everything here is poo and toilet themed which makes for a very interesting experience. If you can stomach drinking your coffee out of a toilet shaped mug and having “poo” ice cream with your waffles, you should definitely give this one a try.

Raccoon Cafe

Our families thought we were crazy for hanging out with a bunch of raccoons, but come on! They’re so cute! There are actually a few different raccoon cafes in Seoul but this one is located in Hongdae near Hongik University. They even have other animals here as well like dogs and meerkats!

943 Kings Cross

Because of course this list wouldn’t be complete without a Harry Potter cafe! This one is also located in Hongdae right down the street from the Trick Eye Museum. Come have some butter beer and take a ride on the broom! You can even buy your own magic wand while you’re here!

Urban Space

Okay so this one is more of a bar than a cafe but I thought it was still list-worthy! If you’re looking for a cool hangout spot with tons of Instagram ops, this one is for you. Not only do the specialty drinks come in bird cages or mini shopping carts, but there’s even a ball pit to play around in! Urban Space is located in Myeongdong not far from the Cat Cafe!

Style Nanda Pink Pool Cafe

The Style Nanda Pink Pool Cafe is definitely one of the most Instagram-worthy cafes in Seoul! It’s far from being the cheapest cafe around but the drinks and sweets are definitely worth it. You can’t actually swim in the pool but it makes for some great photo ops!

Thanks Nature Cafe

Don’t forget to check out my other post: The Thanks Nature Cafe in Hongdae.

The Thanks Nature Cafe (aka the sheep cafe) in Hongdae is definitely one of the most unique cafes in Seoul as you can enjoy rainbow waffles and a cup of coffee while hanging out with two adorable little sheep. If you arrive early in the morning you can have the whole place to yourself!

Tips for Visiting Themed Cafes

  1. Have fun with it. Most are meant to be entertaining (hello poo cafe!) so go with friends and make some great memories doing something you won’t find anywhere else in the world!
  2. Do your research before you go. If you’re wanting to visit one of the animal-themed cafes, check it out before you go. There are often multiple cafes with the same theme and some are better for the animals than others.
  3. Most cafes will require you to buy a drink. Many people go to these cafes just for the experience or for the photo ops. That’s why many cafes will require you to purchase a drink as well as your ticket.
  4. Themed cafes tend to be a bit more expensive. I think we paid around 5 US dollars for an iced chocolate milk at the 2D cafe. Just keep in mind you’re paying for the atmosphere and the experience more than anything.
