En Rogel Cafe: The Unique Teapot Cafe in Jangseong, South Korea

Love unique themed cafes? This is a cafe that you should add to your South Korea bucket list immediately. It’s a must-see! The En Rogel Cafe is one of the most unique cafes I’ve ever been to and by far one of my favorites. This is everything you need to know for your trip to the unique teapot-shaped cafe in Jangseong, South Korea!

The En Rogel Cafe

The En Rogel Cafe is a giant teal blue teapot surrounded by quirky metal sculptures and unique works of art. Everywhere you look, something new will catch your eye. There’s even a bridge shaped like a fish and a bathroom in the shape of a teacup! The teapot cafe opened in the early 2000s but is still a work in progress as new unique features are being added all the time. You can tell everything in the cafe is handmade which is part of what makes it so special.

Something I loved about the cafe is that it’s not in a huge town (in fact, it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere). Because of this, it wasn’t super touristy and we practically had the whole place to ourselves when we went. Even if the cafe is by chance really busy when you go, there will still be plenty of room for you. Not only is there seating upstairs and downstairs inside the cafe, but there’s an outdoor patio with seating available as well! It’s the perfect spot to sit outside and enjoy the spring weather with a drink in your hand.

Inside the Teapot Cafe

The interior of the cafe is quite possibly even more fun than the outside! Everywhere you look inside the cafe you’re bound to find a new unique detail. Even the way the tables are built! My favorite feature had to be the stairway and the large metal cat standing next to it.

Most of the menu at the En Rogel Cafe is in Korean but a lot of the drinks are listed in English as well. And, the guy who was working there (it was the owner’s son when we visited) spoke English really well so he was able to help. There are a few snack foods available at the cafe but you’ll mostly just be coming here for the drinks. I highly recommend the (iced) grapefruit tea. It’s delicious, super refreshing, and comes with a few yummy Biscoff cookies as well!

All of the seating areas had such a cozy feel, even in a cafe like this with so much going on everywhere you look. Most of the tables had their own small sofas as seats and their own little window for you to look outside! No two windows were the same in this cafe; some were a mirror from the outside, some were round, some square, and some were stained glass! A few tables had a small book of poetry on them, but, they were in Korean so make sure you have Google Translate handy if you want to try and read one or two!

Other Things to Do in the Area

  • Take a stroll through the Juknokwon Bamboo Forest
  • Shop the colorful Meta Provence and try some local foods
  • Drive to the Boseong Green Tea Plantation
  • Explore the many temples and gardens in Gwangju
  • Walk the Metasequoia Path
  • Try some bamboo flavored ice cream

How to Get There

Address | 1122 Danpung-ro, Bukha-myeon, Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do

From Seoul | From Seoul, the En Rogel Cafe is about a 3.5-hour drive. I would recommend doing this cafe as part of a trip to Gwangju or Damyang; it’ll make the long drive a little more worth it! I would recommend using the Kakao Map app for navigation to this cafe as it was pretty hard to find on Naver.

Parking| There is a small gravel parking lot in front of the cafe; it’s completely free to park in.
