The cafe culture in South Korea is unrivaled! You’ll easily find multiple cafes on any busy street that you visit, and with any theme you could possibly imagine. Of course, there are plenty of normal coffee shops with nothing too exciting about them, but there are so many fun themed ones as well. No one does unique and quirky themed cafes quite like Korea! Some of the best themed cafes are in bigger cities like Seoul but the Korean countryside is full of hidden gems as well. About the Dreamy Camera Cafe
The Dreamy Camera Cafe is a family-run cafe located in Yangpyeong, South Korea. It’s a bit of a drive from any other popular attractions in South Korea but it’s well worth the trip. The cafe is built right beside the owners’ home which gives it even more of that local, family feel. You can check out the Cafe’s Facebook Page for posts, photos, and updates made by the family.
The interior of the cafe is fairly simple but full of camera-themed decor including many different vintage cameras. Even the napkin holders are in the shape of a film roll! Check out the wall by the stairway (and above the windows!) for polaroids taken of drawings and stories done by guests at the cafe. My husband even drew a photo of the cafe that’s hanging on the wall now!
Head upstairs and you’ll find an even larger seating area and windows with great views of the countryside. On the left side of the room you’ll see a bookshelf filled with photo albums. These are where you place the paper you fill out with your future hopes and dreams (you’ll be given this paper when you place your order downstairs). You can also read through the albums and see what everyone else has written throughout the years!
Food & Drinks at the Dreamy Camera Cafe
Menus are available in Korean or English. I highly recommend trying the ‘Jeju Tangerine Green Tea’ or the pink lemonade! Unfortunately the honey bread was sold out on the day that I visited but I was told it’s a very popular (and tasty) menu item. I had the cheesecake instead and it was so good!
The owner speaks very good English and loved making conversation with all of the guests! She was asking us all of our dreams for the future and discussing them with us as well as her own. She was so friendly and made our visit to the cafe very enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back again!
How to Get There
Address | 35 Hansol-gil, Yongmun-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Yangpyeong
From Seoul | The cafe is about a 2-hour drive from Seoul. I felt like the cafe itself was worth the drive but you could also easily combine it with a trip to Gapyeong (Nami Island, Petite France, etc).
Hours | The Dreamy Camera Cafe is open from 11am to 6pm Tuesdays through Saturdays. The cafe is closed every Sunday and Monday.
